Spreading holiday cheer can be a messy job – from cookie batter, to tree trimmings, to spilled eggnog – a “Santa suit” can take a beating. Don’t let this ruin your Christmas spirit, or turn you into the Grinch or a Scrooge. Follow this care guide to clean and preserve your Santa suit for many Ho ho ho-lly jolly Christmases to come.

What You’ll Need:
Stain Solution, Wash & Stain Bar, Lint-Free Cleaning Cloths, Steamer, Fabric Fresh, Clothing & Upholstery Brush

For cookie crumbs, chocolate calamities, and other tannin stains, apply The Laundress Stain Solution directly to the affected area and work into the fabric with a wet, lint-free cloth like The Laundress Lint-Free Cleaning Cloth. Use lukewarm water. Continue to wipe the area clean with tepid water until the stain and soap are completely gone.

For milk mishaps, chimney soot smudges, tree sap splotches, and other protein-based stains, lather the Wash & Stain Bar with lukewarm water and gently work into the fur trim. Follow by wiping the suds clean with a damp Lint-Free Cleaning Cloth.

Steam each piece with a steamer like the Jiffy Steamer. The heat from the steamer kills most bacteria, mites, and other odor sources without damaging the fabric.

If possible, hang the suit outside where it can breathe, but avoid hanging in direct sunlight. Using The Laundress Clothing & Upholstery Brush, give the suit a good once-over to remove lint, pet hair or reindeer fur, fuzz, and dust.

In between washing and wearing, spray the suit with The Laundress Fabric Fresh Classic. The antibacterial properties actually help to lift, neutralize, and remove odors at the source. Be sure to address areas near the neck and underarms where perspiration is more likely to occur.
