Lucy Sykes is the author of the bestselling book, The Knockoff: A Novel! and Techbitch. We’re big fans of the New York-based author who’s also held positions as a stylist, editor and fashion director at Marie Claire magazine. We were thrilled when she agreed to give us some insight into how she manages laundry at home in New York with her husband and two sons.

My most laundered item is…
My son’s football kit.

My favorite laundry tip or trick is…
I love leaving my underpinnings to soak in the tub with Laundress bubbles for a nice long time. The smell, after they have dried off on the shower rail, makes the bathroom smell beyond wonderful. I love the smell of fresh laundry so much!!!

The most important laundry tip I learned growing up was…
Rubbing laundry soap on a stain – quickest way to get it out!

I make laundry an enjoyable task by…
Listening to music in my bathroom closing the door and having some nice peace and quiet while washing my silk nighties by hand – it’s a luxury.

My proudest laundry victory is…
Getting the stains out of my Victorian smock – that felt huge.

My favorite Laundress product is…
I cannot choose a favorite child. I love them all.

I used to be afraid to wash…
My sweaters.

My laundry room is…
My haven.
